After a 3 weeks break in photography due to a serious back problem I finally got out to capture some images. I chose Woodbridge in Suffolk and as always I arrived before sunrise and didn't have great expectations for the day but what a cracking shoot it was. No clouds to catch the colours of the sunrise but the golden hour was amazing. I walked away from the Tide Mill and towards Kyson Hill following the river Deben. The images I got along the river walk were even if I say so myself very nice with a few solid keepers. What a wonderful feeling after such a frustrating lay off.

27-29th December 2018 - Norfolk Coast Tour

November/December 2018

100% Overcast the weather apps said so no coastal sunrises and I had to think inland landmark. I ended up choosing Framlingham Castle which has a mere right in front of it. The light was pretty bad and the autumn colours were past their best but I managed to squeeze two decent images out of the trip with the help of Lightroom. I will have to go back in the summer for a sunset shot where the sun sets behind the castle and reflects on the mere, that will look amazing!

22nd November 2018 - Woodbridge & Kyson Hill Suffolk

16th December 2018 - Leigh On Sea

22nd December 2018 - Little Oakley

2nd December 2018 - Harwich & Beacon Hill Fort Essex

Finished off 2018 on a high. Took myself off on a 3 day photography trip along the Norfolk coast and inland waterways. Weather wasn't great first two days but looking at post processing there are some nice B&W images emerging already. Last day i finally saw the sun and had a glorious day of beach photography ending up at the fabulous Happisburgh beach and lighthouse. The photos are still in post atm but here is a list of the places I visited on my mini tour. Thornham, Brancaster, Burham Overy Staithe, Well Next To Sea, Blakeney, Mortsten, Cley Next To Sea, Weybourne, Sheringham, Cromer, Overstrand, Mundesley, Bacton and Happisburgh. So as you can see I was a very busy boy, it was a blast :-)

Cloudy with chance of rain again but that never stopped me. Off to Point Clear in Essex. My first trip and there wasn't an awful lot to interest me if i'm honest but after the rain eased I managed to capture some nice shots of some old jetty posts which made a nice curved leading line into the tower over the water at Brighlingsea and the light played ball for 20 minutes too which was a bonus.

Little Oakley in Essex. This was a complete punt location, couldn't find any web photos of this place but I did see it on Google Earth and saw a long curved raised walkway over the marshes with boats scattered around and thought it had to be worth a visit. The sunrise wasn't great but the location had promise for some future sunrise/sunset shoot. The photos I took today were quite nice even without the sunrise, I'm a sucker for a jetty and old boats :-)

9th December 2018 - Point Clear Essex

Another bad weekend for weather but where there's rain and wind there's always the opportunity for some nice cloud action even if the light doesn't play ball. Well the light didn't happen but the clouds did look pleasant enough. I got some nice blue hour images of the Beacon Hill Fort sea defences and then some later in the morning of the old Harwich Lighthouse/Museum.

25th November 2018 - Framlingham Castle & Mere Suffolk

The weather apps said it was going to an epic sunrise, 10/10 "Excellent chances for outstanding photos". I chose Leigh On Sea as I hadn't got any real keepers from this location to date as I had always lucked out on the weather so today was my big change to add that awesome shot of Leigh to my portfolio. Well did I? nope not really. The predicted scattered middle cloud just all feel down and obscured the sun rays. I got some nice shots but I'm still waiting for that outstanding Leigh shot :-(
